About the Agency

Community Counselling & Resource Centre helps people strengthen their lives and promotes community well-being. We do this through services that offer counselling, support and resources to assist with personal well-being, credit and financial management, access to housing and connection with community. Founded in 1956, we are a member agency in Family Service Canada and recently celebrated 50 years of service to Peterborough and the surrounding community.

In 1988 CCRC saw that our counselling and consulting expertise could be applied to benefit workplace health by addressing the needs of employees and organizations. We became a part of the national network of Family Services Employee Assistance Programs and "FSEAP Peterborough" was established. We are proud to be the EAP provider for some of Peterborough's largest employers and take pride in our high standards of service, our strong local presence and that we are a non-profit agency with all our resources benefiting the local community.

Critical Incident Support

We provide a full range of support to assist your staff when a traumatic event occurs, such as the death of an employee, an accident, a violent or threatening incident, sudden downsizing or restructuring.  Employees will struggle with various reactions, some of which manifest days or months afterwards.  Our experience in providing C.I. Support tells us that without timely intervention, work-place morale and productivity can be jeopardized.

We will provide on site counselling as early as possible, assisting, if necessary in delivery traumatic news to employees.   We will also remain available to provide any follow-up necessary in the days or weeks ahead. We can assist organizations to plan for their responses to unexpected events, and our management consultation includes assisting and training managers to manage a crisis.
