Not Just Families - More than Just Services

Each year we provide counselling to thousands of people facing difficult problems, such as coping with divorce, dealing with a difficult medical diagnosis, helping parents and teens get back on track, grieving a loss, coping with partner assault or harassment at work.

We have over 90 years of history of keeping watch for current needs in the community, whether a need to petition government for policy change, or a particular community focus that needs attention by providing educational groups, courses or counselling.

Family Services à la famille Ottawa has helped over 485,000 people in our community who have called on us for support. For many people, accessing counselling support is still a luxury they cannot afford. In an age of cutbacks and intense competition for funding, we must increasingly ask for public support for our programs and services. At the same time, demands for our services are growing. We are committed to using your tax-deductible donation in the most efficient way possible to help those who need it most.

Here are some examples of how your contribution can make a difference:

$1.60 produces a pamphlet for teens to learn how to make a safety plan if they are in a violent relationship

$4.00 pays for transportation to reduce isolation for a day

$20.00 pays for child care to allow a single parent to attend a parenting workshop

$40.00 builds community by assisting a group of 8 families to prepare a meal together

$50.00 helps pay for a 10-week support group for children who have witnessed the assault of a parent

$100.00 buys enough art supplies to build the self-esteem of 5 people living with mental illness

One-time donations are vital financial supplements in times of diminishing funding. Donations of $10 or more are eligible for a tax receipt. Donations can be made by check, cash, Visa, Mastercard or by Paypal.

Monthly Donations

Pre-authorized donations helps you as the donor to give the amount you would like to give but spread it out in a way that may make more sense for you financially. It also gives us the security of a more stable funding base to provide necessary services to our clients. Contact us to set up your choice of payment options. Tax receipts will be issued at the beginning of the following calendar year.
