Volunteer
Our agency depends to a great extent on the willingness of people to help each other, define and respond to emerging problems, and give voice to issues that are important to everyone. We are grateful to the many wonderful volunteers who bring compassion, concern and commitment to support our work.
Right now, over seventy volunteers bring their passions and interests to help with direct service, to participate on steering and advisory committees, and to assist with fundraising and public awareness.
You can volunteer your time with Family Services à la familleOttawa in various ways such as: participating in a round table discussion group, joining a committee, or volunteering with a community program or at our annual fundraiser Juke Box Mania. Some community programs in which we could use your help and support with include: Families & Schools Together (F&ST), Supervised Access Program, and In Love & In Danger. Volunteers receive ongoing training and support opportunities.
Volunteer Qualifications
- Minimum age 18. Exceptions can be made on an individual basis.
- Ability to relate well and develop rapport with people.
- Sensitivity to individual emotional, physical and cultural needs.
- Completed criminal record check.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- At least a four month commitment to the program.
- Approximately 3-6 hours per week time commitment. This may vary with the nature of the specific volunteer assignment.
- Attendance at training sessions and educational presentations.

Participate in a Roundtable
From time to time Family Services à la famille Ottawa invites community members and leaders to meet informally to discuss changes, strategies for action, new initiatives, and other reflections on the state of family. Our roundtable discussions form the basis of a “think tank” which can help to create joint projects that makes sense for the whole community.
Diverse members of the community are invited to participate in a roundtable discussion. If you would like more information, contact us via email at intake@familyservicesottawa.org. It would be helpful if you could include some information about yourself, including:

Get involved & make a difference. Joining a Family Services à la famille Ottawa committee is a great way to make new contacts, learn about new projects, and have a hand in shaping the agency’s direction.

Qualifications
Education: Masters in Business or Counselling discipline or equivalent
Experience: A minimum of five years experience with demonstrated knowledge and professional practice skills in service management. Experience in program management, human resources management, service development, administration, budget management, and program evaluation required.
Experience in managing in a Union environment preferable.
Counselling experience an asset.
Other: Bilingualism preferred
Duties: Is responsible for the program management, delivery, evaluation, and administration of Community Programs. May include direct clinical supervision and some direct service if appropriate.
Insures that the services of the Community Programs are delivered according to the goals, values and Mission of the agency.
Initiates, develops and implements procedures to fulfil mandate of program. Insures that staffing is adequate.
Status: Permanent position, full time (35 hours /week).
