JBM puts the FUN Back in Fundraising
Are you looking for a fun and innovative event for your agency?
A fresh, creative and fun way to help your agency to raise funds and awareness in your community?
Juke Box Mania puts the FUN back in Fundraising. Juke Box Mania is a high energy game that challenges teams to work together to name musical artists, movies, jingles, television shows and various songs from every musical genre. It's not black tie, you don't have to run, walk or cycle. Just show up, get ready to enjoy some great tunes and hang out with your friends.
JBM was created by Family Services à la famille Ottawa and is our signature fundraising event. We have held six successful and sold out events in Ottawa and have helped eight other registered charities from Charlottetown to Red Deer to join the the Juke Box Mania!
The game has a winning formula
- Music is universal - teams can be of any age or background to enjoy it
- It is interactive and involves team play
- The fun is delivered to participants - you don't have to be an athlete or break a sweat
- It is not weather dependant
- There is no dress code
- The cost to participants is reasonable - not much more than an evening at the movies
- Juke Box Mania is simply good old fashioned fun
Agencies that have already "adopted" the game can be assured exclusive rights for their agency within their city or region.

What Other Organizations Have to Say
Peterborough
Communty Counselling and Resource Centre (CCRC) in Peterborough held Juke Box Mania on Friday May 5, 2006 in celebration of our 50th anniversary. It was a smashing success, and I would recommend Juke Box Mania as the best event for fundraising, promotions, team building and community building that I have attended. An I have attended a lot of events!
CCRC has struggled over the past years to find an appropriate event to raise money and profile, especially in a crowded fundraising market. Juke Box Mania worked for us as it was easy to sell - people truly wanted to come as it sounded like fun, and all who came now want to come back, with more friends, as they truly had fun. It also worked as the concept, logo and planning tools were already worked out and provided to us from Ottawa, and we hired Ottawa's very won Mark Arnold to be our DJ.
In addition to the event being fun for people to attend, ticket sales were also facilitated as they are sold in tables of 8 - we really only had 50 "sales" to make to bring 400 people to the event. This was essential for us as we had a small team of volunteers and staff planning the event.
This is an event that had other community agency members asking how we had thought of it and wishing they had thought of it themselves. I encourage you to attend a Juke Box Mania event and see for yourself how much fun it is an how it is a great event for Family Service agencies.

Chase the Winter Blues Away was a well-suited theme for Juke Box Mania 2009. With the weather dipping down to minus 40 that day, our event was a great reason to come out of the cold for some fun and entertainment.
Now you may be wondering, whit is Juke Box Mania? Juke Box Mania is an evening of great food and great fun where the main event is a name that tune game. Teammates work together to identify songs, jingles, and TV and movie themes from a 30 second sound clip. The music, from all different eras and genres, is divided into categories including (but not limited to) our 2009 play-lists: Operas and Musicals, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Blue, For the Kid in All of Us, He Said She Said, Canadian Content, Songs Inspired by War, Map Quest, Teacher Teacher and TV Sitcoms.
In this family-friendly game, teams compete for game prizes and individuals have may opportunities to win fantastic door prizes. This was our third Annual Juke Box Mania event and was again hosted by our very own Tim Hildebrand. Tim's great energy made the evening flow and kept the crowd wanting more!
At the break, attendees were treated to our house band, Klaus Gruber and the Magnificent 7. Our very talented band consisted of Family Service Saskatoon staff and board members: Klaus Gruber, Tim Hidebrand, Kathi Lewis, Brian Cochrane, Darcy Burback, Cas Bitner, Patrick Wheland and Darren Winegarden. The song selection included "Oh Wat A Feeling" by Crowbar, "Jesus is Alright" by the Doobie Brothers, "Your Really Got Me" by the Kinks, "Evil Ways" by Santana and "Still Got This Thing For You" by Alannah Myles.
Thank you to all who supported this wonderful event.
